Meet J.T.

Biography

As a lifelong resident of Henderson County and native of Reed, J.T. has remained committed to community involvement. He currently serves as Henderson County FFA advisor and is a member of the Henderson Farm Bureau Board, Henderson Chamber of Commerce, Henderson Republican Party Executive Committee, and Murray State Hutson School of Agriculture Alumni Board. He is also a past participant in the Henderson Leadership Initiative. 


Following graduation from Henderson County High School, he went on to receive a Bachelor’s in Agriculture Science and Master’s in Education from Murray State University where he also served as student body President and was recognized as Spring 2019 Outstanding Graduate.

  As a teacher, J.T. knows the challenges of our educational system. First and foremost, school safety will be J.T.'s top educational priority if elected. He believes education should be a way to prepare students for entry into the modern workforce and supports investment in vocational education and focusing on basic skills like reading, writing, math, and speaking. He also understands the importance of limiting the weight of standardized testing and thinks the government should not over-regulate schools and teachers.

 J.T. wishes for Kentucky to be a safe place for families to live and work. Whether it be at home, school, or church, Kentuckians should be able to feel safe in their day to day lives. This is why J.T. supports our law-enforcement and will sponsor legislation that is tough on crime and illegal drugs. Kentucky children should be taught at an early age how to avoid being trapped in drug use, and J.T. will work hard to stop drug traffickers in their tracks.

 As a fiscal conservative from a young age, J.T. is passionate about being a good steward of taxpayer money. He understands the frustration of taxpayers when politicians do not use our hard earned money wisely and will vote against tax policy that harms Kentucky's middle class. He is prepared to make tough decisions to decrease the size of state government and return money back to the pockets of Kentucky citizens as inflation continues to hurt our working families.

 Rural families should not struggle to gain access to affordable quality healthcare. J.T. supports building a healthcare system for Kentucky that provides state of the art care from our youngest citizens to our aging population. He is committed to supporting our rural healthcare organizations and working closely with higher education institutions to combat the nursing shortage that plagues the Commonwealth.

 Henderson County is experiencing a time of unprecedented economic growth. It is crucial that Hendersonians have a representative in Frankfort that will advocate for additional infrastructure to assist these efforts. J.T. will be a policymaker that votes for legislation to attract affordable housing, rural internet, and better roads.

 Kentucky agriculture is one of the most successful industries in our state. As our globe struggles to meet the demands of a rising population, J.T. will support farmers by protecting farmland and investing in improvements to rural infrastructure and agri-technology. He will advocate for tax policy that makes it easier for farmers to produce food and fiber for our nation.
